Project Co-ordinator - Employment, Empowered

Sarah joined AkiDwA in January 2025 as a project co-ordinator to work primarily on Phase II of Employment, empowered (EM and EM) which is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) under the implementation of the National action plan against Racism. Her role is to oversee Phase II of the project, which aims to address several barriers to employment that migrant women face when attempting to access the Irish Labour Market. Prior to joining AkiDwA, Sarah was a full-time lecturer in Law at Maynooth University. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and English and an LLM in Global Legal Studies and is currently pursuing her PhD in the area of EU Migration and Anti-Trafficking Law, titled: ‘System interaction and legal black holes in European migration and human rights law.’ Sarah maintains strong relationships in the academic sphere and has recently finished working on a Higher Education Authority funded project on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment in Gender Diverse Students. She continues to work on various research projects in the areas of migration, labour exploitation and the ECHR.
